The PADI OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor) course is the second part of the IDC and the essential step to becoming a PADI Instructor. Here the teaching skills are further developed and refined. New topics are added. You will gradually learn about the whole PADI system and get a lot of information about the link between courses, risk management and the marketing of diving. After completing the OWSI portion of the IDC, you will be perfectly prepared to successfully take the PADI Instructor Examination (IE).
As a PADI OWSI, you are authorized to teach PADI courses ranging from Introductory Diving to Divemaster. You are also allowed to teach and brevet the special course “Buoyancy in Perfection” and the AWARE-PRograms. And many more PADI Instructor specialty courses are open to you as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
For the participation in the PADI OWSI course you need a PADI IDC Candidate Crewpack. PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Kurs (OWSI) – Prerequisites:
Min.18 years, Assistant Instructor with current membership, proof of CPR training not older than one year (e.g.: EFR), current medical certificate, own equipment. Note: to take the exam, the candidate must be certified as an EFR Instructor.
